MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA X CONVERSE (UK RELEASE)

After hinting at what was to come with teaser images and a short video a few days ago, Converse finally announce their collaboration with French fashion house Maison Martin Margiela – a unique take on two Converse silhouettes presented in couture-style.

MMM are known for their use of white, the Maison itself featuring many items coated in a white paint. The new collaboration rightly combines both brands’ signature styles, taking the 1970s Chuck Taylor All Star and the Jack Purcell and covering canvas, eyelets, laces and soles in an allover white-wash. The uniqueness comes when the sneakers are worn – the painted exterior cracks and rubs away revealing the original colours and presenting a wear-pattern unique to each wearer.

Both styles are available in four colours based on fabrics from the Converse archive – red, black, navy and yellow, with the latter exclusive to Margiela – and all are lined with premium, off-white leather. The range will be available later this month from select First String retailers in the UK including Dover Street Market, End and Footpatrol. Check out some detailed images below.
